Selective Catalytic Reduction Catalyst Modeling for Control Purposes

In markets with strict emission legislations Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) has become the industry standard for NOx abatement in heavy-duty vehicles, and therefore modeling control of these systems are vital. Many SCR catalyst models available literature this paper different discussed classified into groups. Two models, based on two most popular classes control-oriented implemented compared each other, one continuously stirred-tank reactor approximation, other a quasi-static behavior gas phase. The results show that assuming phase gives better terms accuracy simulation time, especially when it comes to predictions ammonia slip.
